IN THE NEWS

Tulsa is a long way from home — both literally and figuratively — for the Minnesota-born Jenny Proehl-Day.

Born in a small town of about 3,000, “a less than ideal” childhood spurred her decision to attend the University of Tulsa. From there she graduated from law school, worked at the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office and then went into private practice in 2015.

“I think it’s important for people who are in a position of power to have real life experiences,” she said during a recent interview with The Frontier. “It’s very easy to sit behind a desk and charge people for a morally superior stance when life has never thrown anything to test your grit.”

About Me

I am married and we have two beautiful daughters. I am originally from a very small town in Minnesota and moved to Oklahoma in 2000 to attend the University of Tulsa. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minor in History, I returned to The University of Tulsa College of Law and graduated with a juris doctorate.

My first job out of law school was at the District Attorney’s Office in Tulsa County. I worked as a prosecutor for nearly 4 years. That work included domestic violence misdemeanors, juvenile delinquent cases, general felonies and by the time I left I was the Director of Crimes Against Women.

I have tried 24 jury trials, 18 as a prosecutor and 6 as a defense attorney, to verdict in my legal career. These trials include rape cases, murders, shootings, robberies, domestic shootings, domestic strangulation, drug possession and child abuse.

In addition to jury trials, I have performed several bench trials in divorce, protective orders, arson, & assault & battery against the elderly. I have experience in contested wills, contested trusts, and contested guardianships as well as executed several dozen preliminary hearings & motion hearings.

I am a proud advocate of advancing acceptance and understanding of mental illness and currently serve on the board of NAMI. Additionally, I am proud to stand against racism and I currently serve on the board of #racismstinks.

In my free time I am a soccer, gymnastics, dance, and swim mom.
